One of the Norways most all-round instrumentalists, Nils Petter Molvær, cavorts here in big band format for the first time ever
Thursday 3. june 7:30pm – Grieghallen, Griegsalen (Attention! Own ticket)
Molværs music gains a new dimension when it is assembled and developed together with Bergen Big Band. A lot of the material has never been heard before.
Molvær is known for his characteristic style, in which he combines jazz with elements from Scandinavian folk music, hip-hop and techno. In the hands of the composer from Sula melt different music styles effortlessly together to unique and dramatic soundscapes with deep intensity. The critically acclaimed trumpeter has gained many awards, including several Spellemann prices (Norwegian Grammy).
Bergen Big Band is the regional Big Band from Westland and has through a series of projects with composers and organizers from Norway and other countries distinguished themselves as a big band of international calibre. “Immaculate Bergen Big Band”, wrote The Guardian in a press review about the album with Karin Krog.
