ANDRÉ ROLIGHETEN saxophone PETTER ELDH bass GARD NILSSEN drums
In addition to being Norway's busiest drummer, playing with Susanne Sundfør, Team Hegdal, Thomas Dybdahl, Bushman's Revenge, Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, and a host of other bands and projects, Gard Nilssen certainly still finds time for his own work. While he effortlessly moves between jazz, pop, and rock, this performance focuses more on hard-swinging unplugged jazz. He has the style and ownership of the jazz from the '50s and '60s, and here he truly demonstrates why he is the most sought-after drummer in the country.
In this extremely tight trio, he is joined by André Roligheten – one of the country's top saxophone talents, whose extraordinary touch and power can elevate any band to the heavens, along with the rock-solid and technically brilliant bassist Petter Eldh.
"…exceptionally vital and muscular trio playing, with a saxophonistically fiery Roligheten dancing on glowing bass/drum coals delivered by two relentless stokers." (Terje Mosnes – *Jazznytt*)
